Eight Injured As Fire Exchanges Continue At Kabul University, Afghanistan

KABUL, Nov 3 (NNN-CAN) – A second blast rocked Kabul University, based in Afghanistan’s capital, Monday afternoon, while fire exchanges between security forces and militants were still going on.

So far, according to officials, eight injured persons related to the incident have been taken to hospital.

According to Interior Ministry spokesman, Tareq Arian, hundreds of students and university staff have been rescued, and operations are underway to bring the situation under control.

The militants, at around 11:10 a.m. local time on Monday, after exploding an explosive device, at the eastern gate of the university, entered the university compound and started firing.

The second blast rocked the university’s northern gate at around 3:20 p.m. local time, amid gunshots and rescue operations, to take out all those trapped in the crossfire.– NNN-CAN
