MINSK (Belarus), June 27 (NNN-ACN) — Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, addressed on Thursday the 4th Plenary Session of the Eurasian Economic Forum, held in the Belarusian capital Minsk.
In his remarks of the forum, Diaz-Canel stressed the strategic importance of strengthening links between Cuba and the states with the integration organization. He described the group as a crucial platform for entrepreneurial exchange in that region of the world.
The Cuban head of state also stressed the presence at the forum of a business delegation from his country to further solidify economic relations with the Eurasian member states.
Despite the US economic blockade against Cuba, the island’s enterprises at the forum are promoting a sample of export products and investment opportunities, said Diaz-Canel and he referred to the advantages offered by the Cuban legislation to foreign business and investment projects.
The President proposed to use Cuba as a logistic and investment hub by taking the most out the advantages offered by the Mariel Special Development Zone and its strategic geographic position, which serves as a bridge between Latin America and Eurasia.
He issued an invitation to the 41st Havana International Trade Fair to take place in November, in the Cuban capital as the right platform to reach business deals and strategic alliances.
As to bilateral cooperation, the Cuban head of state referred to agriculture, bio-pharmaceuticals, sugar, light and steel industries, transportation, tourism, communications and I.T., renewable energies, health, science, education and sports.
The Cuban President ratified his country’s willingness to keep advancing the construction of a common space for development and integration, based on fair and equitable economic relations.
Meanwhile, Díaz-Canel described his second visit to the Republic of Belarus and his reunion with his counterpart Aleksandr Lukashenko as very pleasant events.
Díaz-Canel, who referred Lukashenko as a loyal friend of Cuba, remarked that they agreed to strengthen cooperation between both countries.
As part of his official visit to Belarus, the Cuban leader visited a biopharmaceutical company and paid tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, 80 years after the victory over fascism.
His program also includes a participation in the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum in the context of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), an organization for regional economic integration established on January 1, 2015 and made up of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Belarus. — NNN-ACN
