Venezuela: 3 children separated from parents in US return home

CARACAS, Sept 6 (NNN-XINHUA) — Three Venezuelan children, who had been separated from their parents by US authorities, have returned home, the Venezuelan government said.

Camila Fabri, head of the government’s “Return to the Homeland” program, confirmed the children’s arrival at Maiquetia International Airport outside Caracas on Friday saying, “We are very excited, very happy.”

The children were aboard a US commercial airline flight carrying 305 Venezuelans deported from the United States. It was the 65th repatriation flight under the program this year, which assists Venezuelan migrants returning home.

Fabri said more than 70 Venezuelan children are still being “held” by U.S. authorities.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace, medical and psychosocial assistance was provided to the new group of returnees upon their arrival. — NNN-XINHUA
