KAMPALA, June 29 (NNN-AGENCIES) — President Yoweri Museveni, who also serves as the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has officially submitted his nomination forms to contest once again for both the party’s leadership and the presidential candidacy ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Following his nomination, Museveni reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to Uganda’s development, highlighting the nation’s progress through five distinct stages since 1986 under NRM leadership.
He presented an ambitious vision to grow Uganda’s economy to $500 billion over the next five years, should he be re-elected.
“It is important not to elect individuals who are driven by personal agendas instead of focusing on the national interest,” said Museveni, reiterating the need for steady, experienced leadership to continue the country’s economic and social transformation.
Shortly after submitting his nomination papers, Museveni and First Lady Maama Janet Museveni welcomed renowned American evangelist Pastor Benny Hinn at the Nakasero State Lodge. They engaged in meaningful discussions on faith and national values, concluding with a heartfelt prayer for the country. — NNN-AGENCIES
