BEIJING (China), June 11 (NNN-KBC) — Kenya has welcomed the elevation of its diplomatic ties with China to an “All-Weather Kenya-China Community with a Shared Future for the New Era.”

The milestone has been praised by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as a significant step towards deepening cooperation and mutual prosperity.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the ongoing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Changsha, Mudavadi described the enhanced partnership as a sign of trust, shared values, and a model for sustainable development across Africa.

“This upgraded relationship is a testament to our mutual commitment to cooperation, respect, and the pursuit of win-win outcomes that can serve as a model for other African nations,” stated Mudavadi.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary commended China’s continued support in trade and financial development, urging the conclusion of financial cooperation agreements before the end of June 2025 to unlock critical socio-economic programmes in Kenya.

Mudavadi also reaffirmed Kenya’s unwavering commitment to the One-China Policy, noting that this stance is now officially anchored in Kenya’s foreign policy through a Sessional Paper passed by Parliament, “reflecting the seriousness with which we uphold this position.”

The FOCAC ministerial meeting in Changsha is reviewing the implementation progress since the 2024 Heads of State Summit in Beijing, where President Xi Jinping pledged $50 billion in financial aid to Africa over the next three years.

The Kenya-China relationship was further strengthened by the signing of 22 Memoranda of Understanding during President William Ruto’s recent state visit to Beijing, covering areas such as transport, infrastructure, agriculture, and trade.

Mudavadi is also scheduled to attend the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the China (Chongqing)-Africa Investment and Trade Cooperation Forum, both aimed at fostering stronger economic ties between China and Africa. — NNN-KBC
