Over 100 Dead Seals Found On Kazakhstan’s Caspian Coast

ALMATY, Nov 5 (NNN-KNA) – The carcasses of 112 Caspian seals have been discovered, along the coast of the Caspian Sea, in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Region, local media reported, yesterday.

According to the report, 39 carcasses were found along the stretch from the village of Asan to the beach of Fort-Shevchenko town, and another 73 between Fort-Shevchenko’s beach and Bautino Cape.

A resident of Bautino town discovered six dead seals, washed ashore on Monday, two of which had fishing nets entangled around their necks. The incident was reported to the local authorities.

Following the report, seawater samples were collected the same day along the coastline, near the settlements of Fort-Shevchenko and Bautino, in the Tupkaragan District.– NNN-KNA
