NAIROBI, May 24 (NNN-KBC) — Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi is set to visit Morocco for three days.
A key focus of Mudavadi’s visit is the official opening of Kenya’s embassy in Rabat, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with Morocco.
“PCS is set to inaugurate the Kenya Embassy in Rabat, which opened its doors in December 2023, as part of deepening Kenya and Morocco’s cordial diplomatic ties, which were established in 1965,” said Jacob Ngetich, Director of Press Service at Mudavadi’s office ahead of the trip.
Ngetich noted that Mudavadi is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Aziz Akhannouch, the Head of Government and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco. He will also advocate for negotiations to improve Kenya’s balance of trade, which currently favours Morocco.
“Kenya’s exports are approximately Sh 480 million made from tea, coffee, textiles, fruits, and vegetables, while it imports from Morocco fertilizers, oils, and aircraft parts of about Sh. 12.1 billion,” he said.
During the trip, Mudavadi will have the opportunity to meet with the Ministers responsible for Agriculture and Trade for sector-specific bilateral discussions.
“Several MOUs are proposed to be signed during this visit, including an MoU on Housing and an MoU between the Foreign Service Academy and the Diplomatic Academy in Morocco, among others,” added Ngetich. — NNN-KBC
