Three People Died, Two Missing After Truck Plunged Into River In Northern Philippines

MANILA, Oct 27 (NNN-PNA) – Three people died and two others are missing, after a truck plunged into a river, in the municipality of Bontoc in Mountain Province, in the northern Philippines early this morning, authorities said.

In a report, the Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said, the light-duty commercial truck, carrying five people, including the driver, was transporting workers to a construction site, when it crashed into two vehicles parked on the roadside, while navigating a bend on an uphill stretch of the mountainous road, around 6.00 a.m. local time. The truck then veered off the road, fell into a 100-metre deep ravine, and landed in the river.

Rescue workers pulled out three bodies from the truck, submerged in deep river waters, while a search is on to find the two other missing truck passengers, added the report.– NNN-PNA
