MIAMI (Florida, US), May 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A rare Lamborghini Tecnomar luxury yacht partially sank off Miami Beach on Saturday, prompting a rescue that saved all 32 on board.
According to WSVN Channel 7, the incident occurred at approximately 5.05pm near Star Island, close to Monument Island, when the 63-foot vessel began taking on water.
Emergency response teams from the US Coast Guard, Miami Beach Police Marine Patrol, Miami Beach Ocean Rescue, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the City of Miami Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
The high-end yacht, one of only 11 Tecnomar units designed by the Italian luxury carmaker was nearly vertical in the water as panicked passengers scrambled to safety.
Eyewitnesses described the dramatic scene, with one bystander saying the boat was “completely vertical in the water.” Another said, “It was really scary… I hope everyone on the boat is OK.”
A video circulating on social media showed passengers, many believed to be social media influencers, some reportedly models and stylists, with one aerial dance instructor standing atop the sinking vessel while wearing life vests.
Some passengers managed to save personal belongings including laptops and high-end items such as a US$350 bottle of Clase Azul Gold tequila.
The Coast Guard confirmed that all individuals on board were safely evacuated, with several rescued by a nearby good Samaritan’s boat and others by law enforcement vessels.
