DURBAN (South Africa), Dec 6 (NNN-SANEWS) — In support of the country’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign, government will on Friday lead the National Men’s Day Against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) march in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The march is an annual event that aims to increase awareness about the impact of GBVF on society as well as to educate citizens about gender equity.
The march is in line with this year’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign objectives that call for raising awareness about GBVF and its harmful impacts.
This year marks the 26th anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign.
The campaign takes place under the theme: “30 Years of Advancing Collective Action to End Violence Against Women and Children”, which emphasises the importance of a whole-of-society approach to combating GBVF and the importance of a multi-sectoral accountability.
The campaign started on Nov 25 and will end on Dec 10.
Friday’s march will get underway from King Dinuzulu Park, Dr Pixley KaSeme Street to The Station in Stamford Hill.
