Iran Unveils Home-Grown Hypersonic Missile

TEHRAN, Jun 7 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran, yesterday, unveiled a domestically-developed hypersonic missile, named Fattah (Conqueror), in a ceremony in the capital, Tehran.

The opening ceremony was attended by Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami and Commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division, Amir-Ali Hajizadeh.

The missile boasts high tactical capabilities and is equipped with a solid-fuel propulsion system and a second-stage mobile nozzle, which allows it to reach a velocity of up to 15 Mach (5,104.35 metres per second), and a range of 1,400 km.

The precision-guided missile is also equipped with stealth technology, enabling it to evade detection by radar systems, it said.

In remarks at the unveiling ceremony, Hajizadeh noted, no existent anti-missile technology is capable of preventing the hypersonic projectile from hitting targets, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.– NNN-IRNA
