Sri Lanka’s Apparel Exports Recorded Modest Growth Last Month

COLOMBO, Oct 25 (NNN-LNW) – Sri Lanka’s apparel exports, recorded a modest year-on-year increase last month, supported by stronger sales to the European Union (EU) and other markets, the Joint Apparel Association Forum said, yesterday.

Exports in September totalled 403.01 million U.S. dollars, up 1.58 percent from a year earlier.

Exports to the United States and Britain dropped 4.71 percent and 15.06 percent, respectively, while shipments to the EU rose 10.75 percent, and exports to other destinations increased 19.49 percent.

From Jan to Sept, total apparel exports reached 3.8 billion dollars, marking a 6.83 percent rise, compared with the same period last year.– NNN-LNW
