MANILA, Sept 4 (NNN-PNA) – The Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH) reported 20,741 new COVID-19 infections today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 2,061,084.
The death toll climbed to 34,062, after 189 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said, adding that, five laboratories failed to submit data.
The caseload is the second-highest one-day tally since the pandemic began in Jan, last year. Last Monday, the DOH reported the highest single-day spike with 22,366 cases.
The Philippines, which has around 110 million population, has tested over 17.5 million people so far.– NNN-PNA
