KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Poets from four countries have teamed up to lend their voices to reach out to the people on the dangers of the COVID-19, through a poem, Syair Lambaian Kemanusiaan : COVID-19.

Led by local poet and artiste Roslan Madun, 68, who wrote the poem, the group comprises 12 poets from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei.

According to Roslan, the idea for the poem came to him after he saw how even after COVID-19 had hit the world, causing fear and anxiety everywhere, many were still were ignoring it.

“I decided to use poetry to motivate the public to become more aware of the danger of COVID-19, and to play their part in helping the government curb the outbreak.

Roslan then came up with six verses to stress on the importance of people complying with the government rules regarding the outbreak.

“The poem also reminds us to always pray to Allah and trust in Him,” he said.

He added that the poem has been posted on Facebook and YouTube, while a video recording has been broadcast on Kepri.TV in Indonesia.
