Huge Fire Consumed Oil Storage Facility In Malaysia’s Johor State

KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 22 (NNN-BERNAMA) – A huge fire erupted at an industrial facility storing engine oil and lorries in Johor state, sending huge plumes of smoke into the air and forcing the evacuation of those living nearby, authorities said, yesterday.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze around 12:45p.m. local time, according to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre.

Firefighters found an active blaze at the lorry depot, located in the town of Pasir Gudang, near the state capital, Johor Bahru, with flames spreading quickly due to strong winds and igniting a neighbouring disused oil storage area.

No casualties have been reported, so far.

The fire also spread to a housing area located about 50 metres from the scene.– NNN-BERNAMA
