Six Killed In North India’s Road Mishap Due To Dense Fog

NEW DELHI, Dec 30 (NNN-PTI) – At least six people, including two minors, died, and five others injured, when the vehicle they were in, fell into a canal, in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh, late on Sunday night, said media reports.

The road mishap reportedly occurred due to the dense fog in the state’s Greater Noida district, when the vehicle skidded off the road, due to poor visibility and plunged into a canal.

“Altogether 11 people were in the Maruti Ertiga car, which fell into the Kherli canal in Dankaur area. All 11 were taken to hospital, where doctors declared six of them dead, while the remaining five are undergoing treatment,” a state police spokesperson, said.

Dense fog is witnessed in many parts of north India, leading to poor visibility, which results in delay in a large number of flights and trains. Mercury has fallen to as low as below two Degrees Celsius in Delhi and neighbouring areas, during the past week, and it’s described as the coolest Dec in over a century.– NNN-PTI
