Lebanese Gov’t Solves Hospitals’ Shortage In Funds Issue

BEIRUT, Nov 16 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon’s finance ministry, announced that it has transferred all the dues of private and public hospitals in Lebanon to their bank accounts, to put an end to their shortage in funds.

Syndicate of Private Hospitals President, Suleiman Haroun, announced that, Lebanese private hospitals will not be able to receive patients, due to shortage of cash, which resulted in a lack of the needed materials.

All private and public hospitals implemented a sit-in on Friday, to urge Lebanese officials to end this problem, which may have otherwise resulted in the death of a number of patients with chronic diseases.

Haroun previously said, private hospitals in Lebanon are suffering from a severe yearly deficit, amounting to 70 billion Lebanese pounds (46.4 million U.S. dollars).

The hospitals owed around 1.3 billion dollars in total to the government, the National Social Security Fund and military health funds.– NNN-NNA
