Nicaraguan police seize more than 340 kgs of abandoned cocaine

MANAGUA, Nov 3 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The Nicaraguan National Police reported on Saturday they confiscated a shipment of 344 kilograms of cocaine that drug traffickers abandoned on a beach in the western department of Chinandega.

After being informed about suspicious movements on Los Clavos beach, in the municipality of El Viejo, in the border area with Honduras, forces specialized in fighting drug trafficking showed up at the scene on Thursday and seized 10 packages containing the aforementioned amount of the drug.

This Friday, the Nicaraguan Police and the Army reported on their joint work against drug trafficking last October.

During the tenth month of the year, the police carried out a dozen anti-drug operations through which they confiscated 759 kilograms of cocaine, 450 pounds of marijuana and 925,000 dollars in the national territory.

This type of operations carried out by the Army, the Police and the Navy are part of a strategy called the Containment Wall through which the Nicaraguan government fights to prevent its territory from being used for drug trafficking between producers, mostly in South American countries, and the large consumer market in the United States. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
