Russia rejects meddling in Nicaragua’s internal affairs

MOSCOW, July 21 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Russia rejected meddling in the internal affairs of Nicaragua and highlighted to cooperate with that country, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution.

“We restate the inadmissible nature of destructive external meddling and illegal restrictions, both against Nicaragua and against Venezuela,” stated Alexander Schetinin, head of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Speaking at the political-cultural ceremony, Schetinin assured that Nicaragua will always be able to count on the support of Russia to solve tasks related to its economic development and the defense of its sovereignty.

Russia enhances a practical cooperation with the Central American country in health, cosmic space, overcoming the aftermaths of natural disasters and in the agricultural field, among many other sectors, the diplomat indicated.

He affirmed that on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution, President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to President Daniel Ortega, in which he stressed the high value of his ties with Nicaragua.

“We have Dec 12 as the day of friendship with Russia and this year we celebrate 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations,” highlighted Alba Luz Torres, Nicaraguan Labor Minister, in an event also attended by Russian officials from health, commerce and finance areas. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
