NAIROBI, June 15 (NNN-KBC) — Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya has mourned two Kenya Air Force pilots that died in Saturday’s plane crash in Kwale County.

In her condolence message to the families of the fallen airmen, Tuya described the two pilots as gallant officers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

According to the official statement, the Grob 120A aircraft experienced an emergency while on a routine training flight and crashed in the general area of Mwakijembe Primary School, Mafundani village. Both pilots on board were killed in the accident.

While confirming the demise of the two pilots, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) assured the public that thorough investigation to establish the cause of the crash is underway.

“With deep sadness, we confirm the passing of both pilots in the crash. Kenya Air Force has constituted and dispatched investigation teams to establish the cause of the air crash,” KDF said in a statement.

“May the Almighty Lord rest the souls of the departed heroes in peace and grant their families fortitude at this time of deep sorrow,” the KDF statement concluded. — NNN-KBC
