Kenya, Dominican Republic hold first political consultations

Mudavadi arrived on Sunday, May 11

SANTO DOMINGO, May 12 (NNN-KBC) — Kenya is for the first time holding political consultations with the Dominican Republic.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, is in the capital Santo Domingo to hold talks with the leadership of the Caribbean nation, focusing on cooperation in security, health, trade and investment.

Mudavadi was received by Francisco Caraballo, Vice Minister for Bilateral Relations, and Ambassador Francisco Cantizano, Chief of Protocol.

“ We look forward to constructive engagements aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between our two countries”, he stated.

Mudavadi is expected to sign MOUs on medical evacuation, Repatriation of Wounded, and Deceased Persons, Access to Dominican Territory for Kenyan Members of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti.

He is accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Amb. Monica Juma, Senator Veronica Maina, and Amb. Mwenda Karisa, Kenya’s envoy to Cuba.

Over 600 Kenyan officers have been deployed to help quell insecurity in Haiti as part of a mission now in its second year, which has received support from the United Nations and the United States of America. — NNN-KBC
