LONDON, Feb 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The European Union (EU) and the UK has completed the negotiation process on a new detailed agreement to handle illegal migration.

It is expected that the two sides will announce detailed information about the new cooperation agreement related to this issue in the coming days.

The British Government’s announcement stated: “Leaders welcomed the successful conclusion of negotiations on a new cooperation agreement between UK agencies and the EU Border Protection Agency (Frontex). ). This agreement will be formalized in the coming days as part of a wider partnership between the UK and the EU in tackling illegal migration.”

The announcement was issued after a phone call between British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen.

On the same day, the EU also issued a statement with similar content.

Expanding cooperation on illegal migration between the UK and the EU has been going on for some time, but last October, this activity encountered obstacles because the UK wanted to establish an agreement to return people.

British police said that on Feb 16, authorities took 6 people to the hospital for recovery and arrested 2 men after discovering many migrants in a truck on a ferry in the southern region. — NNN-AGENCIES
