Former Aussie childcare worker charged with 1,623 abuse offenses against 91 children

SYDNEY, Aug 1 (NNN-AAP) – Australian Federal Police said today that, a former childcare worker was charged with 1,623 abuse offenses against 91 children.

According to the police, the charges included 136 counts of rape and 110 counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10.

Police confirmed that all the victims were pre-pubescent girls.

Between 2007 and 2022, the 45-year-old man recorded his offending on phones and cameras, while working in 10 childcare centres in Brisbane, one centre in Sydney, and an overseas centre.

A special task force located images of the victims being shared on the dark web and launched an extensive examination.

During the execution of a search warrant in Aug, 2022, police arrested the offender in Brisbane’s south-western suburbs and seized electronic devices which contained child abuse material created by him.

Australian Federal Police Northern Assistant Commissioner Justine Gough, said that, the federal police and other agencies were providing ongoing support to parents and children.

“This is a distressing time for families, carers, and the community broadly,” Gough noted.

With all 87 Australian children having been identified, the police are currently working with international authorities, to help identify four kids recorded in child abuse material created overseas.– NNN-AAP
