Seven Killed, 12 Injured In Road Accident In South India

NEW DELHI, Jul 1 (NNN-PTI) – At least seven people, including five women and a child, died, and 12 others sustained severe injuries, in a road accident in India’s southern state of Karnataka, yesterday, confirmed a local police officer over the phone.

The mishap occurred when a heavy vehicle collided with two small vehicles carrying the victims, at Vaddarahalli Bridge of Hospet area in Vijayanagara district, added the officer.

All the dead belonged to the same family.

The victims were residents of Ballari district and travelling to Tungabhadra Dam, near Hospet area, in the two small vehicles, when the accident occurred.

A total of 19 people were travelling in the two ill-fated vehicles at the time of the mishap.– NNN-PTI
