Brunei’s CPI Down By 0.5 Percent In Apr

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jun 13 (NNN-BB) – Brunei’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), registered a month-on-month drop of 0.5 percent in Apr compared to Mar, the latest statistical figures released yesterday showed.

According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the monthly CPI drop was in line with the fall in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices and non-food prices by 0.7 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.

For year-on-year changes, the CPI increased by 0.2 percent, compared to Apr, 2022. The rise was driven by an increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2.8 percent, which was due to the rise in rice and cereals (6.4 percent), meat (3.8 percent) and fish and seafood (3.6 percent). However, the non-food prices registered a decrease of 0.5 percent.

CPI measures price changes of goods and services paid by the consumer in a specified period.– NNN-BB
