Myanmar To Hold Film Academy Awards Ceremony

YANGON, Mar 24 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar will hold a film academy awards presentation ceremony in May, in Nay Pyi Taw, after a four-year hiatus amid the pandemic, according to the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation.

“This year, only the artistes who are truly worthy of the awards will be presented. We are currently scrutinising the movies,” U Aye Kyu Lay, vice chairman of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation, said.

A total of 12 categories of film academy awards, including special awards for the years of 2019, 2020 and 2022 will be presented to the country’s artistes, after the scrutiny out of more than 130 movies, he said.

The awards include Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Music, Best Sound and Best Editing awards.

Aiming at encouraging domestic film production, the film academy award presentations have been held since 1952.

The last film academy award presentation for the year 2018 was held in Yangon, in Mar, 2019, in which 12 awards were presented.– NNN-MNA
