Arab Region Needs 220 Billion USD Annually To Create Jobs For Youth: UN Official

BEIRUT, Lebanon, April 18 (NNN-NNA) – A senior UN official, said that, the Arab region needs 220 billion U.S. dollars annually, to create 92 million job opportunities, for young Arabs by 2030.

“Reforms are of utmost importance to attract investments to these sectors, namely in smart infrastructure, renewable energy and green technology,” Rola Dashti, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, said, during the 17th Arab Business Community Forum held in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

Dashti also called for the improvement in business environment in the Arab world, to attract investments in the future.

The private sector in the Arab world should cope with the advancements brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in a bid to survive, she noted.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterised by a fusion of technologies in a number of fields, including robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, fifth-generation wireless technologies (5G) and others.– NNN-NNA
