BOGOTA, Nov 29 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The last secretariat of the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP) said on Monday that it accepts with respect and willingness the Resolution of Conclusions of the Chamber of Recognition of Truth.

Last Friday, the Chamber of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) issued the first Resolution of Conclusions of Case 01 on kidnappings carried out by the FARC-EP during the armed conflict.

The SJP noted that in the acknowledgment hearing, the seven participants individually and collectively assumed their responsibility as co-perpetrators of hostage-taking, serious deprivation of liberty, and homicides.

In addition, the responsibility of each one, according to their command trajectory, for the war crimes of torture, cruel and other inhumane treatment, attacks on personal dignity, sexual violence, and forced displacement carried out by the FARC-EP against the hostages.

The Chamber established that the factual, legal, and restorative components of the recognition made by the participants were sufficient to refer to the First Instance Section for Truth Recognition Cases of the Court for Peace, it added.

In view of the resolution, the group of participants stated that they recognized kidnapping as an event that should never have occurred in the internal armed conflict and that generated deep pain for the victims and their families.

Our unrestricted and unwavering commitment is to continue complying with the Peace Agreement, to contribute to the truth, to repair the damage caused to the victims and to society, as stipulated in the Agreement, they stated in a communiqué, and reaffirmed, in honor of the victims, that they have been carrying out reparation actions since before a sanction was imposed on them.

‘Today we can only express our pain and shame for the actions that, in the framework of the war, affected thousands of families who had to face the scourge of kidnapping; a wrong policy and contrary to the values of our revolutionary causes,’ they emphasized.

They reiterated that they are deeply committed to the victims who come before the JEP in search of truth, of restorative justice, and moved by the desire to leave to the next generations a country in peace, ‘which also includes our children.’

The text was signed by Rodrigo Londoño, Pablo Catatumbo, Pastor Alape, Julián Gallo, Jaime Parra, Rodrigo Granda and Milton de Jesús Toncel, who were members of the last FARC-EP command.

The JEP is a justice component of the Comprehensive System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition, established under the Peace Agreement and has been in force in Colombia since March 2017. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
