Singapore Reports 1,009 New COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, Sept 19 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore reported 1,009 new cases of COVID-19 infection yesterday, bringing the total tally in the city-state to 76,792.

Of the new cases, 926 are in the community, 78 in migrant worker dormitories and five are imported cases, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

A total of 863 COVID-19 cases are currently warded in hospitals. There are currently 105 cases of serious illness, requiring oxygen supplementation, and 18 in critical condition in ICU, said the MOH. Of those who have fallen very ill, 100 are seniors above 60 years old.

The ministry said, a 90-year-old male Singaporean has died from complications due to the COVID-19 infection, bringing the death toll to 60.

As of Sept 17, 82 percent of the local population have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 84 percent have received at least one dose, according to the MOH.– NNN-CNA
