WINDHOEK, Jun 11 (NNN-NAMPA) – Namibia recorded 1,045 COVID-19 cases, the highest daily increase, since it was reported in Mar last year, said Health Minister, Kalumbi Shangula.
In a statement, Shangula said, the cases are from all the country’s 14 regions, with 59 percent of them recorded in the capital, Windhoek.
“The current situation demands urgent action. The COVID-19 monitoring team is reviewing the epidemiological situation, with a view to mount an appropriate response,” Shangula said. “The cooperation of everybody is needed.”
The minister also announced 18 COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total to 968.
Namibia has so far reported 61,374 confirmed positive cases and 53,143 recoveries.– NNN-NAMPA
