Afghan Gov’t Distributes Pistachio Saplings To Boost Agriculture

KABUL, Jun 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – The distribution process of over 7,000 pistachio saplings to villagers, started in Afghanistan’s northern Samangan province, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announced, today.

“Horticulturists are expected to receive 7,000 pistachio saplings, in Tangi Yaqoub, Faizabad and Talkh villages, in Dara-I-Suf Payyan district of Samangan, as the distribution has started recently,” the ministry said in a statement.

The programme aimed at boosting agriculture, ensuring rural livelihood, rural rehabilitation, management of natural resources and prevention of the erosion of earth and flooding in the district, heavily subject to the seasonal rainfalls, the ministry said.

The Afghan government has taken measures to invest in agricultural sector, to further create job opportunities for people and to boost economy in the land-locked Asian country.– NNN-XINHUA
