Kuwait Committed To Palestinian Cause: PM

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 2 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait is committed to the Palestinian cause and supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said on Tuesday.

Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah made the statement, after talks with visiting Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye.

In the statement, the Kuwaiti prime minister affirmed Kuwait’s principled and unwavering commitment towards the Palestinian cause, saying that Kuwait supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, for establishing an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

He stressed on the necessity of intensifying Arab and international efforts, to resume the Middle East peace process and halting violence against the Palestinian people.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional issues, noting the mutual desire for boosting continuous consultations and coordination, in support of diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

Earlier, Kuwaiti Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said, Kuwait remains unwavering in its stance and support for the just Palestinian cause.

Kuwait would also be steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people until they achieve their dream in an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the Emir said, during a meeting with Mohammed Ishtaye.

Such lawful aspiration comes in line with international resolutions on this matter and also the Arab Peace Initiative, the Emir noted.– NNN-KUNA
