Turkey Registers 9,375 New COVID-19 Cases

ANKARA, May 26 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey yesterday confirmed 9,375 new COVID-19 cases, including 693 symptomatic patients, raising the total number of cases in the country to 5,203,385.

The death toll from the virus rose by 175 to 46,621, while total recoveries climbed to 5,045,508, after 11,192 more people recovered in the last 24 hours, according to the Turkish Health Ministry.

The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients stood at 3.1 percent, the number of seriously ill patients was 1,667, said the ministry.

A total of 223,104 tests were conducted over the past day, with the overall number of tests in Turkey reaching 52,817,437.

Turkey started mass COVID-19 vaccination on Jan 14, after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine. More than 16,160,000 people have been vaccinated so far.
