Turkey Reports 61,400 New COVID-19 Cases, 4,086,957 In Total

ANKARA, Apr 16 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkey yesterday confirmed 61,400 new COVID-19 cases, including 2,845 symptomatic patients, raising the total number in the country to 4,086,957, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus rose by 297 to 35,031, while total recoveries climbed to 3,535,040, after 54,894 cases recovered in the last 24 hours.

The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients stands at 3.3 percent, and the number of seriously ill patients is 3,080, said the ministry.

A total of 318,217 tests were conducted over the past day, taking the overall number of tests to 42,828,122.

The country started mass vaccination on Jan 14, after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine. More than 11,929,000 people have been vaccinated so far.
