Bangladesh’s COVID-19 Deaths Near 10,000 Amid Second Wave

DHAKA, Apr 14 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh reported 6,028 new COVID-19 cases and 69 new deaths yesterday, bringing the tally to 697,985 and death toll at 9,891, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.

Fresh cases continued to rise since last month, as the country sees a second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The official data showed that 32,955 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 585,966, including 4,853 new recoveries on Tuesday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.42 percent and the current recovery rate is 83.95 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 7,626 on Apr 7, and the highest number of deaths of 83 on Apr 12.– NNN-BSS
