COVID-19: MAHA 2020 postponed

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) 2020 show scheduled for Nov 26 to 29 has been postponed to a date to be determined later, following the spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

As of yesterday, the Ministry of Health reported 834 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of active cases of COVID-19 to 9,968.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) said in a statement today, postponing MAHA 2020 was a precautionary measure to break the COVID-19 transmission chain as well as ensure the safety, health and well-being of the community.

MAFI also expressed its appreciation for the commitment given by all parties involved in the preparation of the annual exhibition.

On Aug 6, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that MAHA would be held in a hybrid manner, physically and virtually, in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.
