1,200 Youth Commissioned To Afghan National Army

KABUL, Oct 20 (NNN-XINHUA) – A total of 1,200 youth were commissioned to the Afghan national army on Monday, after completing a 14-week military training course.

“The newly graduated soldiers from now on are ready to be deployed to any parts of the country, to serve the nation,” Shah Mahmoud Miakhil, the deputy to the Defence Ministry said, in his speech at the certificate presentation ceremony.

Afghanistan’s 350,000-strong security and defence forces, including army and police, have been fighting an increasing militancy and costly war that almost claims the lives of a dozen security personnel on average everyday.

At least 45 people, including militants, security personnel and civilians have been killed over the past 24 hours in the country, according to officials.– NNN-XINHUA
