Japan’s Nihon University Confirms 26 Volleyball Players Infected With COVID-19

TOKYO, Oct 13 (NNN-NHK) – A total of 26 players of the men’s volleyball team at Japan’s Nihon University, have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, the Kyodo news agency reported.

Sources close to the matter told Kyodo that, two members tested positive for the virus last Thursday, after having a fever. Another 24 among 56 members were also confirmed positive after being tested later.

None of the 26 players are “showing serious symptoms” and the outbreak has not spread, Kyodo said.

Nihon University, a private institution founded in 1889, has more than 7,000 students and is one of the largest universities in Japan. Most of the university’s campuses are in Tokyo or surrounding areas.

Japan reported 437 new cases on Sunday, including 146 from Tokyo, bringing the total number to 90,099.– NNN-NHK
