Myanmar’s COVID-19 Infections Exceed 3,600 With Four More Deaths

YANGON, Sept 16 (NNN-MNA) – The number of COVID-19 cases in Myanmar reached 3,636, with 203 new infections yesterday, according to a daily release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

Four more patients with underlying diseases died, bringing the death toll to 39 so far, the release said.

As of last night, 872 patients have recovered from the disease.

State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also chair of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, assured the public that, the government will assist in everything that should be done, including the provision of medical equipment and enough quarantine centres to accommodate the infected patients.

Myanmar has seen an increase in number of locally transmitted cases, especially in Yangon, during the second wave of the outbreak, starting on Aug 16.

COVID-19 was first detected in Myanmar on Mar 23, this year.– NNN-MNA
