Israeli Army Bomb Two Hamas Posts In Gaza After Soldier Injured In Clashes With Palestinians

JERUSALEM, Feb 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The Israeli army said that, it fired artillery shells at two Hamas posts in the northern Gaza Strip, after a soldier was injured during clashes along the border fence.

According to a military statement, a “violent riot” started in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday night, during which dozens of protesters “hurled explosive devices and rolled burning tires at IDF (Israel Defence Forces) soldiers and the security fence.”

A soldier was wounded, apparently by one of the explosives, and taken to hospital with light-to-medium injuries.

“In response, IDF tanks targeted two Hamas military posts in the northern Gaza Strip,” the military said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the attack.

According to Palestinian reports, an undercover force, known in Hebrew as “Mista’arvim,” disguised as Palestinian protesters, crossed from Israel into Gaza.

The force was exposed and protesters hurled an explosive towards them, triggering heavy live fire at the Palestinian protesters, who were mostly unarmed.

The incident was the latest violence along the fence separating Israel and the besieged enclave.

Since the start of the Palestinian anti-Israel “Great March of Return” rally, in late Mar, 2018, more than 250 Palestinian demonstrators have been killed by Israeli gun fire and around 26,000 others injured, according to officials of the Gaza Health Ministry.– NNN-AGENCIES
