11 Killed After Boat Capsizes In Lake In Pakistan’s Sindh

ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (NNN-APP) – A boat of picnickers capsized in a lake, in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh last night, leaving 11 people killed, local media reported.

According to the reports, 13 persons of a family hired a boat, to ride at Keenjhar Lake, in Thatta district of Sindh, but the boat lost balance and overturned when it reached deep waters.

“The boat owner did not have life jackets to provide to the victims, who fell into the deep water helplessly,” said the reports, adding that, the boatman managed to save two persons but 11 others drowned.

Rescue teams responded to the emergency call but when they reached the site it was already too late to save those who drowned.

According to reports, lifeguards were not available at the lake, which attracts thousands of visitors daily, especially from the neighbouring port city of Karachi. All the victims belonged to the Mehmoodabad area.

Rescue divers retrieved all 11 bodies and shifted the bodies to hospital for legal formalities.– NNN-APP
