Schools In Palestine To Resume In Sept: Minister

RAMALLAH/GAZA, July 29 (NNN-WAFA) – After a five-month closure, following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Palestinian territories, schools in Palestine will reopen in Sept, a senior Palestinian official said.

Marwan Awartani, the Palestinian Minister of Education, told a news briefing in Ramallah that, schools in Palestine will restart on Sept 6, “unless something urgent breaks out amid the COVID-19 crisis.”

He added, the crisis had influenced education at schools and obliged all educational institutions to carry out online learning for the safety of Palestinian students.

“The plan of the return to schools goes in harmony with a comprehensive health protocol, based on certain conditions that all schools, universities, and other education institutions must abide by,” said the minister.

Awartani clarified, the protocol includes physical distancing, wearing face masks and gloves, and sterilisation.

However, the education ministry in the Gaza Strip, the enclave that the Islamic Hamas movement rules, announced that schools there would reopen in the first week of Aug.– NNN-WAFA
