Daily COVID-19 Cases In Israel Hit Record 1,473

JERUSALEM, July 8 (NNN-MA’AN) – The Israeli health ministry reported 1,473 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest single-day surge, raising the total number in the country to 32,222.

The number breaks the previous daily record of 1,115 daily cases recorded on July 4.

The ministry also reported eight new deaths from the virus, the highest since Apr 18, bringing the death toll to 342.

The number of patients in serious condition dropped from 88 to 86, out of 357 patients currently hospitalised.

The number of recoveries rose to 18,227, with 171 new recoveries, while the number of active cases reached a new record of 13,653.

Earlier, Israel’s parliament passed a law allowing the government to bypass decisions related to the struggle against the resurgence of COVID-19 cases.

The new law allows Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, to sidestep parliament and its committees, so new decisions could take effect immediately.

Under the new law, the government can declare a state of emergency and change virus-related restrictions without being debated in parliament in advance.– NNN-MA’AN
