King presents appointment letters to Malaysian envoys

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysia’s King Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today presented letters of appointment to five Malaysian envoys at Istana Negara here.

His Majesty also received the letters of appointment of three envoys to Malaysia .

Also present at the ceremony was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.

The five Malaysian envoys were Datuk Bala Chandran Tharman who will be posted to the Russian Federation,  Zamshari Shaharan (Qatar), Haznah Md Hashim (Bangladesh), Sazali Mustafa Kamal (Turkey) and Abu Bakar Mamat (Chile). 

Meanwhile, the envoys posted to Malaysia are Azimbek Beknazarov (Kyrgyz), Ary Norton De Murat Quintella (Russian Federation) and Aliasghar Mohammadi (Iran). 

Malaysian envoy to Russia, Bala Chandran who has been an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) since 1994, has previously served as Malaysian Ambassador to Lebanon in 2014 and Director-General of Policy Planning and Coordination (2017-2018). 

Meanwhile, High Commissioner of Malaysia to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Haznah has been an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at Wisma Putra since 2000, and prior to her appointment, she was the Undersecretary of the Multilateral Economic & Environment Division. 

Abu Bakar, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Chile, on the other hand, served as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at Wisma Putra since 2000 and prior to his latest appointment, he served as the Undersecretary of Europe Division.

He also served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Windhoek, Namibia (2004-2008); Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Pakistan (2011- 2015); Malaysian Embassy in Kuwait (2004-2007); and as Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York (2012-2015).

For Zamshari, before appointed as Ambassador of Malaysia to Qatar, he was the Deputy Head of  Mission at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta, and also served at the Malaysian Embassy in Manila, Philippines (2002-2005) and Paris, France (2011-2014).

Meanwhile, the Brazil Ambassador to Malaysia, Ary Norton, 57, has served in several missions including London and Washington.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Malaysia, Aliasghar, 56, was the Head of Secretariat of High Council on Iranian Diaspora (MOFA) from 2016 until 2017 before his role as Director-General of Consular Affairs until now. 

The Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic to Malaysia, Azimbek, 64, was a member of the Kyrgyz Parliament from 2000 until 2007.
