FOA Wants To Export Stingless Bee Honey To Middle East

KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia) June 22 (NNN-Bernama) — The Farmers’ Organisation Authority (FOA) intends to sell local stingless bee honey and its products in the Middle East market.

FOA chairman chairman Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh said the results of a study by FOA showed that the benefits of local stingless bee honey were able to overcome the quality of honey from the Middle East.

“The stingless bee honey we produce has many benefits to health including for the kidneys and much more. God willing, we endeavour to move forward so that our stingless bee honey and its products can be exported.

“Even now, the corporate communities of Arab countries are beginning to ask what products from Malaysia can they sell in the Middle East. I am confident we can deliver stingless bee honey, “he told reporters after a visit to the Kuala Terengganu Area Farmers’ Association’s (PPK) Stingless Bee project, here, Monday.

Nik Muhammad Zawawi said he was informed that the government had purchased a building in Jordan that served as a centre for promoting Malaysian products including palm oil, and local agricultural products.

“We hope that this stingless bee rearing project will progress. FOA will see what we can help and contribute,” he said.

Meanwhile, Terengganu FOA director Mohd Saupee Sudin said FOA planned to implement a ‘mentor mentee’ programme to produce more local entrepreneurs with quality and competitive products, including from among stingless bee entrepreneurs.

“We will see what allocations we can channel under this programme (‘mentor mentee’). Through this programme, mentors will be able to provide guidance and inspiration to their mentees to achieve success like them, ” he said.
