RAMALLAH, June 17 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine welcomed a statement made by United Nations experts on the Israeli annexation plan in the West Bank, saying it highlights how the plan violates international law.
Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad al-Maliki, said, UN experts’ statement reflects the position of 47 experts, appointed by the UN Human Rights Council and denounces the Israeli plan to annex parts of the occupied territory.
The statement said, the Israeli plan represents a “vision of a 21st Century apartheid,” urging the international community to prevent this plan from taking place.
It warned that the annexation, in addition to being a violation of the UN Charter and the Geneva Conventions, is also a cause for war and suffering.
Al-Maliki expressed gratitude to the UN experts for their clarification of the negative impact of the backing by the United States to the Israeli unilateral steps, including its plans to annex more lands.
The Israeli government plans to annex large parts of the West Bank and imposes Israeli sovereignty on the settlements built in the West Bank.– NNN-WAFA
