Yemeni Government, Houthis Decide To Continue Meetings Over Swap Prisoners

AMMAN, Jordan, Feb 9 (NNN-PETRA) – The Yemeni government and the Houthis, decided to continue their meetings related to the swap of prisoners and to provide more time to finalise the lists of prisoners to be covered by the deal.

A statement issued by the office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen indicated the two sides expressed their commitment to release all prisoners and detainees and those under house arrest, which will be implemented soon.

They also renewed their readiness to exert all possible efforts, to realise this objective, and to speed up the process to enable the detainees to reunite with their families.

The statement indicated that, the committee representing the two sides made a significant progress, to implement the deal to release the prisoners, as more information was provided, during the second meeting, in Amman.

A sub-committee formed to look into the swap of bodies affiliated to the two sides also endorsed an action plan to be implemented in line with a specific timeframe.

The UN special envoy office said, it will continue to exert efforts, along with the International Red Cross, to support all efforts seeking to implement the agreement and to provide all necessary technical assistance.– NNN-PETRA
