Oman Chairs Arab Economic And Social Council 103rd Session In Cairo

Cairo, Egypt, Jan 8 (NNN-ONA) – The 103rd session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, chaired by Oman and attended by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, started at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo today.

Talal bin Sulaiman al- Rahbi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning, head of the Sultanate’s delegation to the meeting, delivered a speech in which he stressed the Sultanate’s keenness on the importance and necessity of enhancing Arab cooperation in the economic and social fields, to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of the region.

He said that, this year witnessed the holding of important meetings within the framework of Arab cooperation, foremost of which was the economic summit held in Beirut last month and the upcoming Arab summit in Tunis in Mar, stressing that these meetings will come out with important decisions to support the process of integration in the Arab region.

He added that, the meeting of the Economic and Social Council will discuss a number of important economic and social issues, particularly the developments of the Arab Free Trade Zone, facilitating trade exchange and follow-up of Arab summits with other international bodies and many other economic and social files.– NNN-ONA
