Myanmar’s Airport Extends Restriction Of International Air Services To Mid-June

YANGON, May 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The restriction on international air services at Yangon International Airport was further extended to June 15, according to a notice from Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), operator of the airport.

Aiming to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the suspension of international air services was first set from Mar 30 to Apr 13, and later the effective period was extended thrice, to Apr 30, to May 15 and to May 31, respectively.

Meanwhile, domestic air travel remains operational at the airport, the notice said.

The Yangon International Airport handled 1.46 million passengers in the first quarter of 2020, down by 17.14 percent, compared to the corresponding period of last year, due to the travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.– NNN-AGENCIES
