Heavy Rain, Hailstorm Hit Indian Capital

NEW DELHI, India, Feb 8 (NNN-PTI) – Heavy rain and hailstorm, Thursday evening, hit the Indian capital, New Delhi, and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) of Noida.

People took to Twitter posting photographs and videos of hail that presented a white layer on roads and lawns.

“Awesome and it’s not even cold anymore,” wrote Ujjawal Singh, a resident on Twitter.

Some people posted photographs holding hail stones in their hands.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted thundershowers, along with hail and gusty winds, in Delhi and adjoining areas.

The downpour, however, had little effect on the mercury.

Reports said, 18 flights were diverted from Delhi airport, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., because of the bad weather.– NNN-PTI
